About Me
Hello and a warm welcome to Love Vintage Etc. I’m Michelle, a London based author and photographer. You may have seen snippets on Instagram @masonandpainter of my adventures as a shopkeeper and vintage collector. Here on Substack I write in-depth newsletters and recommendations on the things I enjoy from travel, films, food and exhibitions, plus exclusive interviews, features on art and design and updates on my latest vintage finds.
I’ve written four books to date including Love Vintage, Vintage Shops London, Botanical Style at Home and Independent Shops London (for publication May 2025). My background in art and design has been varied and fun in equal measure. After university I worked as an exhibition designer for the National Gallery, London, created layouts for books and interior magazines and designed homewares for Heals, Liberty and Le Bon Marché before opening my own shop.

In 2023 I closed my shop on London’s Columbia Road to concentrate on writing and producing lifestyle books.
