November Diary
Vintage pieces & news updates
Hello, how’s things with you? It’s suddenly turned very chilly here in London, a sure sign that winter is here and December is on its way.
When I had the vintage shop on Columbia Road I loved styling the interior and windows with seasonal wreaths, dried flowers and fresh smelling pine cones from the flower market. The decoration was low-key but somehow felt natural and it let the vintage and decorative antique stock shine through. Next week I get to play shopkeeper again and look forward to styling our Christmas pop-up shop with pre-loved and antique finds. I’m sharing the shop with my friend Tamara at Reclectic Decor. We’ll be open from Tuesday 26 Nov - 2 Dec, with late night shopping on Thursday 28 Nov, 6pm until 9pm. And on the Saturday we’ll be joined by special guest Karen from the Old Potato Store. Manchester based Karen will be bringing pieces specially curated for the day and she has a great eye. We all hope you can join us for this special, pre-Christmas event.
Here’s a small preview of what I’ll have in the Christmas pop-up next week. They’ll also be antique furniture, ceramics, vintage art, large Hungarian preserve jars for all your seasonal flowers and lots more besides.

A pair of these beautifully painted botanical studies will also be available in the Christmas shop. These Victorian botanical watercolours on paper, with handwritten notes depict peach blossom and briar rose (not shown).
If you feel like treating yourself to a piece of vintage art take a look at the paintings currently available online. The Cubist style still-life (below) depicts a table set with bottle, plates and cups. Painted in vibrant oils on wood and framed in an antique wooden frame. Measures 56.5cm x 46cm – the perfect subject for any room or workspace.
The vintage floral painting, below, is by British artist Stella Cardew RA (born 1928). Reminiscent of Pierre Bonnard, the oil on linen canvas beautifully captures a posy of flowers surrounded by decorative textiles in a palette of blue with greens, ochre and subtle pinks. Framed in a white, wooden vintage frame and measures 52cm x 47.5cm. Signed Stella Cardew on the reverse of the canvas.
This is a fabulous collectors piece by a documented London artist who exhibited widely, lectured in art and was friends with William Burroughs, Jasper Johns, Allen Ginsberg and had Yoko Ono as her lodger.

Thank you for checking in, it’s always great to see you here. And many thanks to all new subscribers. I’m currently working on the December newsletter which will go out on the 1st of the month, so please do look out for it in your inbox. I’ll be posting an interiors special which I hope you’ll enjoy, along with news updates and latest finds. Until then, keep warm!
